Ben Mezrich is the Einstein of writing for our generation. He paints tales with such vivacious colors, that his books become ones you simply can’t put down. I remember first getting my hands on Bringing Down the House…I stayed up until 4am not able to sleep until I read the last page! His newest creation, The Accidental Billionaires is no different. It is a slam dunk, much like the one Jordan Crawford delivered to LeBron James. I took it to the beach and once again ended up having to finish it the same day. If you’ve read a BM book, then you know that his characters and descriptions are so deliciously detailed that you enjoy every bite. This book is a MUST read!

First of all, I’m not a techie, computer geek or the like. I’m just a huge fan of Ben Mezrich’s books, and I’m a daily user of Facebook. I’m not interested in computer programming details which would make my eyes glaze, just a good compelling book to enjoy this summer. Accidental Billionaires does NOT disappoint!

As with every Ben Mezrich book, he paints a picture with words, and when reading Accidental Billionaires, I felt drawn into the scenes as if I were a bystander watching things unfold firsthand. This time, I found myself standing in the middle of Harvard Yard or inside a buzzing house in Palo Alto feeling the drama, evolution and rift between all involved (including Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin) in creating “the Facebook”- today we know just as “Facebook.” His characters are interesting, colorful, and strangely awkward. Sean Parker of Napster and Plaxo’s involvement was especially fascinating.

As a Harvard grad himself, Ben gives us a trustworthy peek into the Harvard world many of us will never know. Because I’m such huge user/fan of Facebook, I feel as though I have been given a window of understanding into the gripping backend of this soaring phenomenon I use daily.

It seems that any review that I have read that negatively dissects the book makes me wonder if they’re really just upset they didn’t get to the story first. Mama always said, “Follow the money,” right?

It’s a highly enjoyable book, and I recommend it as a good summer read, book when traveling or gift for someone. ACCIDENTAL BILLIONAIRES is really GREAT!

  4. Mr. Mezrich continues to provide intrigue and excitement to true content. His ability to create a fictional atmosphere around a non-fiction piece will keep you reading until this book is done. While Facebook sweeps the nation, Ben Mezrich found a perfect time to release this great insight to the beginning of “thefacebook.com”. Great read, finished in one day and recommend to anybody who uses Facebook on a regular basis but more importantly you can read this book without using Facebook at all which is a true testament to Mr. Mezrich’s skills.

Accidental Billionaires held me captivated for a single sitting. I was unable to put the book down, wanting to find out more about gawky but sexy-in-a-nebbishy-way Eduardo Saverin, the chiselled Winklevoss twins, and the cunning mastermind Sean Parker. When I first picked up the book, i really only knew about Mark Zuckerberg. It was refreshing to find a book that tells the story of the inception of Facebook from more points of view than just the same boring story we heard about Mark. This book reads like a thriller, and really has captivating characters that are well described by Mezrich. You really feel like you are living on the Harvard campus and in silicon valley as he takes you through the twists and turns of this unexpected history of the founding of Facebook. Facebook loves this book because it really highlights how important this social networking site is, and how it really becomes an empire. I highly recommend this book as a great summer read, and as a book that will really educate you about a story no one has heard before. I am excited to see the movie that this book is based on too. I heard that Aaron sorkin adapted the screenplay from the very notes of this book, and followed it extremely closely to stay as true to the book as possible. Kudos, Sorkin for keeping to the book. I hate it when screenwriters try to recreate books but miserably fail by veering too far from the actual book. Enjoy Accidental Billionaires and the Sony Columbia Pictures movie that will be based on it!
